Today is my hubby's special day. We'll celebrate with his favorite activities and homemade German Chocolate Cake. This cake is a three-layer-made-from-scratch novelty with that yummy coconut -pecan goo dripping down all sides. Why would I take the time to make something that goes through so many steps to prepare? Because it's my way of telling Roy that he's special, and that I'm glad to celebrate him!
What's in a birthday? Why do we celebrate them? A birthday is a time set aside to remind someone that they are valued. It matters to you that they were born, and it's the perfect occasion to let them know they are appreciated. In It's A Wonderful Life, when George Bailey thought the world would be better off without him, Clarence the Angel gave him a unique opportunity to view things through that lens. What George found was shocking, and gave him renewed hope in his purpose.
We may never get the chance to see through the same scope as George Bailey, but we do have opportunities to celebrate the people in our lives every day. Find a way to let them know you're glad they're around. Go ahead. Make their day!
P.S. Know who thinks you're pretty wonderful? God does! Check it out in Psalm 139:15-18. He knew your name before your world began!
