Princess Diana and Mother Teresa died in the same time frame, ten years ago. Theirs were lives that captured public curiosity, even to this day! I remember feeling puzzled at the timing of their deaths, because their lives were so filled with contrasts.
The Sunday Post Journal August 26, 2007 had an article about Mother Teresa's writings to be released September 4. The book Come Be My Light: The Private Writings of the "Saint of Calcutta," takes an honest look at her inner struggles. The Associated Press author seems to think Mother Teresa's questions about God's presence would jeopardize her "sainthood." But I think they only make her more real.
Who doesn't question God? Don't we all have times of doubt? It isn't the doubting that is the hallmark, but the perseverance. What do you do with those doubts? The person that takes their doubts to God is the one who is honorable. He's got big shoulders, He can handle our questions! The book of Hebrews is all about "stick-to-itive-ness." Hebrews 4:14-16 says that Jesus understands our weaknesses and extends mercy to help us in our time of need. That's powerful! To know that I am loved and helped, especially in those vulnerable times!
So hang on to your faith in God! Even when it feels like it is only a tenacious thread, hang on! And He will hang on to you!
