Doubting your faith?

Princess Diana and Mother Teresa died in the same time frame, ten years ago.  Theirs were lives that captured public curiosity, even to this day!  I remember feeling puzzled at the timing of their deaths, because their lives were so filled with contrasts.

The Sunday Post Journal August 26, 2007 had an article about Mother Teresa's writings to be released September 4.  The book Come Be My Light:  The Private Writings of the "Saint of Calcutta," takes an honest look at her inner struggles.  The Associated Press author seems to think Mother Teresa's questions about God's presence would jeopardize her "sainthood."  But I think they only make her more real.

Who doesn't question God?  Don't we all have times of doubt?  It isn't the doubting that is the hallmark, but the perseverance.  What do you do with those doubts?  The person that takes their doubts to God is the one who is honorable.  He's got big shoulders, He can handle our questions!  The book of Hebrews is all about "stick-to-itive-ness."  Hebrews 4:14-16 says that Jesus understands our weaknesses and extends mercy to help us in our time of need.  That's powerful!  To know that I am loved and helped, especially in those vulnerable times!

So hang on to your faith in God!  Even when it feels like it is only a tenacious thread, hang on!  And He will hang on to you!

Sally,
I do love how God has big shoulders. It's not about how small we are, but how BIG He is. He is quick to forgive and loves deeply. My questions come from making sure I am on the path He has for me. Am I walking in my calling? Am I doing enough to get there? Am I hearing His voice clearly? Have I missed Him?
And He so tenderly, and lovingly confirms the path I am on.
I love Him so much!

Sally, Fridays have become something that I look forward to, to reading your blog and sharing in what God has placed on your heart to share with others. Thank you for pointing out God's strength and that our questions and doubt, don't necessarly show that we are weak, but just the opposite, STRONG in Him, when we turn to him with our fears and with our trust! Thank you for reminding me of God's faithfulness to me and the caring support of those that He has placed around me!

HI, I was just surfing and came by. I guess I got a bit of a different take on Theresa. I did a post on it on my journal. It is the next to the top one. You might also enjoy the top one since you are a mom. It is cute.
