I Choose Life

The Roe vs. Wade anniversary was commemorated Sunday.  Prayer chains formed up and down major street intersections across the country to honor the unborn.  As cars go by, I often wonder if the chains make a difference.  Do people read the signs?  Do they understand why the lines form to peacefully protest abortion?  Maybe the activity is not so much for others, but for us to solemnly contemplate the atrocity of a life taken before it has a chance to speak for itself.

One of the ways we have learned about the unborn is through sonograms.  Sonograms have come a long way since my kids were born.  Now, you can see eye movement and hiccups!  A baby’s form is easily distinguished with heart beat and organs developing.  The Lord has allowed us a glimpse of His perfect creations, that we may better understand the process of Creation, happening within the mother’s body.

O Little Ones, how I wish for you to experience Life!

Your precious souls are close to God’s heart.

You have gifts to share with the world, to make this a better place.

You are filled with joy and music that would make God smile.

We need you and your insights into the human race.

Traveling home from Sandy Cove Thursday, I passed a yard permeated with small crosses.  They also had a billboard size picture of Jesus weeping.  I wish I would have stopped and taken a picture of this memorial to life.  If we could comprehend the magnitude of children who are killed each day, we would do something to stop it!  We hear a term like “fetus” and think of it as a clinical activity, instead of a child with a name already known to God.

What can we do?  Pray.  Contact our representatives in the House and Congress.  Speak up!  And humble ourselves before the Lord.  How about it?  Will you speak up?
