Finding Balance

The working-outside-the-home mom and the stay-at-home mom have had our differences.  But we all are trying to do the best we can for our families.  Have you ever felt like you’ve spent all of your resources on taking care of everyone else, and then have nothing left for yourself?

I was just reading about that in http://missussmartypants.com/.  Leslie describes me as the Martyr Mom (hey, if the shoe fits…).  She’s right.  I do get caught up in what my family is doing and then grump when I don’t take care of myself.  But, who’s to blame?  Me!  I have to learn to set boundaries.

So, here’s a poll.  What do you do to nurture your God-given self?  How do you find a balance in the give-and-take of raising your family?

Very true!

Balance? Hmmm ... Now that the kids are in school, it's easier ... I have a few hours to myself. I find that I am most balanced when I stay on top of the housework ... have learned to do laundry ONLY one day a week ... the other days are NOT laundry day. I've learned to clean only once a week ... the other days are NOT cleaning days. I pick up constantly and throw papers away constantly. Less clutter helps my "balance"! Then ... I have more room for important things ... like ... people.
