Ever feel like you get organizational ADD? I was more than distracted yesterday; I couldn’t stay on task for one thing! It seemed that time sped up but left me in slow motion. Yet the plodding-on paid off at the end of the day when I could look back and see that I had gotten more done than I realized.
When you think about what it takes to persevere, could that equate to keeping at something, even when the job seems insurmountable?
My hubby and I watched the movie In the Pursuit of Happyness last night. Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith) was broke and living on the streets. Yet he persistently worked to get the next sale. He pursued what he believed in, and then he learned to believe in himself. Bit by bit, Chris worked his way off of the streets and into a new life for himself and his son.
What does it take to press on? Commitment. Creativity. Consistent effort. Will you and I be persistent when the odds are against us? Let us echo Paul’s words, “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14-15)
