Praying for our Children

When life strikes hard at our families, we are faced with a decision.  Do we give up, give in, or give them back to the Lord?  One of the things I like about Moms in Touch (http://momsintouch.org/) is the commitment to a time of prayer.  We can go to prayer seminars, prayer conferences and prayer meetings, but the best thing we can do, is to actually make time to pray.  The format for prayer is simple:  just do it!!  Talk to God like you would when face to face with a friend.  Tell Him what’s on your heart and let Him handle the situation for you.  I especially like the imagery of using Scripture to guide my prayers.  It helps me to understand that God cares about every detail in our family life, and will leave no stone unturned in order to glorify His Name!

Here’s a verse to comfort parents:

The Sovereign Lord “tends His flock like a shepherd:

He gathers the lambs in His arms

and carries them close to His heart;

He gently leads those that have young.”

Isaiah 40:10-11

Here’s what we are praying for our son tonight:

…that the eyes of his heart might be enlightened in order that he may know the hope to which God has called him…                              Ephesians 1:18

And for our daughter:

…that she may know that she is God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance, specifically with her in mind.      Ephesians 2:10
