Have Hobbies, Will Travel!

I’m getting excited about the Apple Festival.  That’s when 10,000 people descend upon the little hamlet of Busti for the purpose of celebrating Fall!

I’m going to teach a craft this year.  The Historical Society sponsors heritage activities like candle making and yarn weaving.  I will be showing people how to cross-stitch!  It will be fun to participate from this angle.  Years ago, our ladies at church sponsored a booth, so this will be a vantage point with a new perspective.

Do you have a hobby?  Hobbies are a good release from the current brain activity.  They release creativity in various forms that allow us to take pride in our abilities.  Especially when we discover we can learn something new!

Some think it’s a waste of money to invest in a craft.  I guess it would be if you never did anything with it, but put to work, hobbies can be therapeutic.  That’s why you can never put a price tag on what you make.  You would never be able to sell it for what it’s worth.  But you glean the reward by working with your hands, mind and ingenuity.  That’s true whether you’re running a model train like my hubby’s dad, or scrapbooking with us gals.

What is your hobby and what benefits do you gain from pursuing it?
