What does it take to step up to a microphone? Beauty, Brains and Bravado? Maybe. Maybe not.
Beauty – There’s more to a person than what you see on the outside. My Mom always said, “Beauty is as beauty does.”
Does character show on the outside? Can you wear integrity on your sleeve? The qualities that make a gal really shine, are those gems of the heart that she shares with others!
Brains – True intelligence is shown when you know it’s best not to speak. How about when the gals at the office stop to chat by the coffee pot? Does the conversation build people up or tear them down? We all have the capacity to learn how to present a topic before an audience. This is not an obstacle to be feared!
Bravado – I’ve found that preparation helps me to be brave. When I organize my thoughts, they have to cooperate with my quaking knees. Besides, a few butterflies onstage help to keep you on your toes! Courage is not the absence of fear, but the overcoming of it.
Everyone has a story. The more you share yours with others, the more your confidence will grow! So get out there and practice. Relax. Be yourself, and smile. J You’ll win your audience over with character, preparation and courage!
