Christmas is 45 days away!  I’ll be shopping next week at the Grove City Outlet Mall, but in the meantime, my list needs to be updated!  For the kids, that means jotting down sizes and noting favorite teams.  It includes asking for wish lists from family members and brainstorming about unusual ideas.  When you have a goal and your budget’s ready, anything’s possible!

Here are some ideas for low-cost presents:  framed pictures of a special event shared, fill decorative storage containers with homemade mixes, buy winter gardening gadgets for the summer gardener, cooking widgets for the chef, hobby accessories, books for long winter nights, jigsaw puzzles, family games, snacks for a home movie night, gourmet mixes for the coffee drinker, hot cocoa in specialty flavors, scented logs for the fireplace, school supplies, tools for Bible study,  jazzy socks, fuzzy mittens and cozy scarves!

Amazon has created an online wishlist for your family to register their own suggestions.  That takes the guesswork out of the list and saves at the gas pump as well!  Whether you shop online or in person, you’ll make it a more enjoyable experience when you start with a list!

It gave me an idea with a slight twist.

Those of us in the older set could create one for each grandchild. In fact I plan to start just that. What a fun gift it would be each year to give a child a notebook with sketches and pictures of things you did together with them, and memories they created with you.

Grandparenting is a huge gift, and one that each child should receive. The gift of your time together is priceless, and a gift that chronicles those events will be cherished. Every child needs a grandparent to dote on them and build up their self-esteem...especially in the turbulent teens. The time invested in making a notebook would be well worth every minute!
