How do you stay focused?

After a big project, it seems that I end up spinning in circles.  The mind has a way of saying, “enough is enough!”

While we need to give ourselves time to recuperate, there also comes a point to get back to work!

This weekend I spoke at a Women’s Retreat in Warren, PA for the Eastern Conference of Evangelical Churches.  It was a grand time of watching women of all ages interact with each other.  We talked about tackling the myths of fulfillment, letting go of unrealistic expectations and learning to take mini-personal retreats.  We explored the many faces of friendship and brainstormed ways to overcome the hurt of relationships gone sour.  We looked at questions of why God allows things in our lives and reminded ourselves of His great love for each of us!  Whew!  We packed a lot into one weekend!

But now, I am ten days away from our women’s annual retreat, and have to switch gears.  Here are 3 Things I will do Today to Tackle Life!

1)  Pray.  Too often, I do what needs to be done, and then pray later and ask God to bless it.  Today, I want to reverse that and ask God to show me where He wants me to be doing His work!

2)  Make a list.  A list turns into a good task organizer.  It helps me keep priorities straight about the most urgent tasks.  Besides, I get to feel like I get a pat on the back when I can cross something off!

3)  Stay on one thing at a time.  I know this sounds like the “Duh” factor, but I need reminders to do one project at a time.  Otherwise, I’ll find myself wandering from one thing to the next, and never get anything done.

Are you easily distracted?  How do you tackle an overwhelming list?

Sally
