Do You Journal Your Prayers?

Sherry Woodworth (distinctivelifestylemin@yahoo.com) teaches a workshop called “Writing With The Spirit of Excellence.”  Last night we were talking about the importance of written documents.  In our legal system, a petition is “a formally drawn request, often signed by those endorsing it, that is addressed to a person or group of persons in authority, soliciting some favor, right or other benefit.”

If we would be so exacting in a request of our own courts, then wouldn’t we also be that specific when approaching The Throne of Heaven?  Philippians 4:6 says, (The Message Bible)

Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.

I find it reassuring to know that The Lord wants me to talk to Him in detail.  And the process of writing out my prayers helps to clarify my thoughts.

What elements do you include in your prayer time?  One reminder that helps me is ACTS.  ACTS is an acrostic that represents:  Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication (or petition).

Whatever form you use to write your prayers, you’ll find a closer fellowship with The Lord.  You will substantiate your requests and be able to look back later to see how those requests were answered.  It may be “yes, no or wait,” but there will always be an answer.

Join me in the adventure of Prayer!

P.S.  I mentioned Hosea in my other blog.  Would you pray with me that Hosea will find The God of Hope?
